Biography
Charlotte Eliza
Charlotte was born and raised in Hertfordshire. At the age of 9 Charlotte joined the Carter School of Dance where she participated in a variety of song and dance performances, predominantly at the Hertford Civic Hall. At the age of 12 she preformed as part of a choir at the Royal Albert Hall.
Through Charlotte’s childhood and teen years she learnt to play both the piano and clarinet, as well as being a member of her school choir and continuing her acting studies at the Courtyard arts center.
Charlotte remembers her first big influences in music were the legendary Michael Jackson and Celine Dion. She also used to like Christina Aguilera, the Corrs, Dixie Chicks and Alisha’s Attic
Now her music is more inspired by folk and soul artists such as Ellie Goulding, Amy McDonald and Lana del Rey. Her sound would be a combination of these sounds, from the husky soulful undertones (similar to that of Lana del Rey) with a touch of the quirkiness found in contemporary folk singers such as Amy McDonald.
Currently Charlotte performs with her dad at a range of open mic nights. Her father, also an accomplished musician, plays a multitude of instruments, including the dulcimer, the banjo and the guitar.
Charlotte’s unique voice is her USP and she continues to modify and grow, following new artists on Spotify and Soundcloud for inspiration.
Her first song ‘Mountebank Smile’ was inspired by a line in a historical book, describing Anne Bolelyn while courting Henry VIII, it describes someone that is an emotional ‘fraud’ and someone that plays games with peoples hearts, something we have all experienced in one form or the other
